DATE: Victorian, c.1900

One of the weirdest pieces of jewellery we've owned for a while... an antique sea-lion brooch in 18k gold with a black/grey cat's eye chrysoberyl belly. It's beautifully made, with fine textured "fur" and whiskers, and a natural pose. Dating from the turn of the 20th Century, we'd never seen one quite like it.
